The Lighthouse Pottery was established in 1981 by Christine Campbell and Frank Harris, making hand thrown decorative porcelain and domestic stoneware.

The retail shop, retaining the same name, opened in 1995 and now stocks crafts and designer led giftware from around the world.

We are situated in the old fishing village of Portpatrick and are located in an idyllic location on the South Pier, overlooking the small beach and harbour with views across the sea to Ireland, only 19 miles away.

We have disabled access and ample parking. If you are visiting Portpatrick there are plenty of excellent places to eat in the village. We also have two golf courses and there are stunning walks starting in the village.

The Lighthouse Pottery is open 7 days a week throughout the year, 9am - 5pm weekdays and 9:30am - 5pm at weekends.

About Portpatrick

Portpatrick

Portpatrick is a popular tourist destination in South West Scotland and when you visit, it is soon evident why. It's quintessential fishing village layout along with multi-coloured houses on the sea front often remind people of Cornwall and it's views over to Ireland are often spectacular.

Hardcore walkers know the village well as Portpatrick is the start of the Southern Upland Way - a long distance path that goes all the way to Cocksburnpath in the Borders.

For wildlife watchers, we have a resident otter, tysties (black guillemots), seals and sometimes cetaceans like dolphins, porpoises and minke whales can be seen.

The lighthouse by the pottery was built in 1836 but was decommissioned in 1900 when it was superseded by the lighthouse at Killantringan. There is possible evidence of an even earlier lighthouse in the old churchyard.

Location & Directions

On entering Portpatrick, turn left when you reach the t-junction. The shop is located right by the old lighthouse. View location map (opens in new window).
